Well, we’ve been back 2 weeks. Today’s the day to water the succulents. This is being called “the summer that wouldn’t end” by many in the deep south but cooler temps are on the way.
Actually, quite a bit of knitting was accomplished on our trip to France. We knitted on the trains, on the boat and in sidewalk cafes. Because of sailboat space limitations, we each brought only one project. I began the Featherweight Cardigan by Hannah Fetig on the day we left, in fact I think I started it at JFK.
Now, I may be a little late to the Featherweight ball but, I’m telling you, I can’t wait to wear this little thing! It is sooo deliciously light! We don’t get much chance to wear heavy sweaters in South Louisiana (though it’s fun to trot out the Fair Isle as outer wear during the winter!), but I think this will definitely see its share of wear. It’ll be a great layering piece over t-shirts and tank tops or even with cool weather dresses. I love the color, “Chirp”, which was hand-dyed by Kelly of Boho Knits in Prince Edward County. Though I’ve got a bunch of swatches due at the beginning of next week, I think I’ll take this to Tipsy Knitters tonight and see if I can finish off that first sleeve.
Since we’ve been back, I’ve put quite a bit of work into my Cottage Garden Shawl. (I am so in love with bobbles!) I had originally hoped to publish this shawl pattern ’round about mid-November, I decided to push it to March thinking that it is quite spring-like and might be more welcome as a transitional project.
I’ve got quite a nice line-up of self published patterns planned for this year. One of the great things about self publishing is that I get to choose my own colors! Last weekend I got busy and laid out my color story for the year. I’ve been gathering color information and documenting pleasing combinations since this time last year and I think I’ve nailed it!
And finally, this old chestnut, a new incarnation of Martha in a cotton/linen blend. If you knew the number of times I’ve thought about frogging this…I don’t know quite why. I can actually picture myself wearing it. I guess that’s why it has survived several rounds of “Finish or Frog”. The jury is still out on this one so it has been saved for another day!
