MWTW: Where’ve you been?

Woooh! Feels like forever since I’ve posted. It’s so easy, so much fun (and so necessary!) to get thoroughly caught up in the Christmas season and a little difficult to get back on the horse afterward. I had a wonderful holiday season with lots of friends and feasting. We had Gwen and Joni with us this year, so we spent some time as tourists checking out all the beautiful decor in the fancy downtown hotels.

Ever read “A Confederacy of Dunces”? Here’s me and my friend, Ignatius Reilly in front of the old D.H. Holmes department store on Canal Street.

So, what’s next? Well, here in New Orleans we’ve got Mardi Gras sneaking up on us already (take a deep breath) and I’ve got lots and lots of wonderful projects planned for the new year. Through the holidays, I’ve been working away diligently with this handsome yarn, Weld from Hudson + West Co. As I’ve mentioned before, Weld is my favorite new yarn. This color, Red Feather, is pushing all of my creative buttons at the moment and I can’t get enough of it. It’s hard to pull myself away from this rhythmic combination of stitches in this rich and rustic shade.

Look what arrived on my doorstep recently! I am so excited to get started on my second project for Cascade Yarns. Llamerino, a soft, beautiful blend of merino and llama is nothing short of addicting and the color, Chili Pepper is heaven.

During those spare moments, like while I’m waiting for the kettle to boil, I get in a few stitches on my Upperline Socks. I had worked the foot, turned the heel and started up the leg when I realized that I wanted the bigger size. Sooooo…. Here’s where we are now. Much better!

Well, that’s about all that’s worth printing this week. Hope you’re warm and tucked in somewhere with your knitting! See you soon.

Love,

Cheryl
