So, a big goal for this past summer was a deep and thorough clean up of my enormous storage unit. Yuck. Not really something to look forward to as part of summer but…I really felt I needed to look carefully and touch everything contained in that 10’x20′ space. It was truly a grind but in the end, truly freeing. Some of the process was just like Christmas!
I found a nearly complete (but for sleeves) incarnation of my Martha Cardigan in Knit Picks Cotlin. To this day, I cannot remember casting this sweater on, buying the yarn or anything connected with it, but what a find! The cotton linen blend is perfect for the climate of South Louisiana. I love the color, Rain Drop, and it actually fits! During a quiet moment over the summer, I actually managed to pick it up and work on it a bit. I’m excited to get back to it!
The contents of a tote filled with half-finished sewing projects yielded these!
These are nearly-done Flat Stephanie notions bags. I do remember these! I had great plans for these when I found the silver-stamped grey fabric on a quick trip to Joann Fabrics. I remember I planned to add pretty beaded zipper pulls, then give them to friends and fellow knitters. l think I still will! I don’t think there’s more than a couple of hours work left on them.
And how about this!?! Three new sock designs nearly ready to launch! And with all the various bits of yarn all neatly contained in the bag. As I recall, I was exploring some fun new ways to work with self striping yarns. I’m sure there’s a folder somewhere in my laptop with notes and charts. These feature Knit Picks Felici self-striping merino yarn. It is so deliciously soft and squishy, and now is available in a worsted weight that still contains that special little bit of sock knitter’s nylon. (Incidentally, Felici’s on sale right now, 30% off, but it looks like most of the colors are gone. And no, this is NOT an advertisement for Knit Picks! :D)
I’ve been thinking a lot about socks lately and how they make such perfect projects for this time of year and how gift-worthy they are. In fact, several people at Tipsy Knitters last night were making socks and those who weren’t were certainly talking about it. I think they’d make some great new releases over the next several weeks! I’d better get on that!
I know it seems early to be thinking about holiday gift knitting but…times marches on. I think I’ll offer a discount on some early gift-knitting projects tomorrow. We don’t want to get caught with our socks down! See you tomorrow 🙂

That is so nice!! Well done on getting the storage sorted, but even nicer on finding all these projects. The sweater is stunning. 🙂 And of course I always love socks.

It is like finding a gold mine! How wonderful. That almost completed sweater….so beautiful.
