Create a Transitional Tee

Create a Transitional Tee

Transitional Knits: The Marion Tee.

There’s nothing like a lightweight transitional tee to take you from summer into early autumn. Choose colors that anticipate autumn like harvest gold, pinky brick or chocolate brown and create a transitional tee that you’ll enjoy wearing alone or layered over a blouse. Take 30% off the Marion Tee pattern in my Ravelry shop through Friday, September 9, 2022.

Marion Transitional Tee

Autumn is Fleeting!

I love the anticipation of Autumn! It’s a fleeting and changeable season, warm but with notes of apples, spice and an abundant harvest. In the autumn, we need knits that go from sunny afternoons to cooler evenings. I’ve curated a toasty little group of features this month that focus on easy transitional knits that can be worked anywhere during this stirring time of year! Create a transitional tee and a few small accessories that bring a little dab of extra warmth to your early autumn wardrobe.

A Perfect Autumn Tee

Create a Transitional Tee

A youthful, modern shape and a bold yarn characterize the Marion Tee. With a lilting, slightly swingy silhouette and inset lace panel, Marion makes a great go-to top for everything from jeans to shorts to casual skirts.

This transitional tee is sleeveless with sweet picot edging and features a wide bateau neck. Upper and lower edges end in a crisp picot hem that provides a little structure for the A-line shape. Worked in soft and silky Bamboo Pop, every lacy stitch is defined while the overall effect remains cool and breezy. With Marion, you’ll create a transitional tee that is worked from the bottom up. It makes for a quick and easy knit with enough interest to delight the knitter.

The Yarn

Bamboo Pop by Universal Yarn

I’ve specified Bamboo Pop for the Marion Tee because it’s a very wearable blend here in the south. It is the softest mix of cotton and bamboo and is puffy and lofty. This blend comes in great colors, not just for summer but for warm weather knits that can be worn into September and October. Bamboo Pop allows for great stitch definition and is super cool to wear and a snap to launder. It’s perfect yarn to create a transitional tee.

Transitional Tee with Picot Edge

This transitional tee was inspired by a spider!

A couple of summers ago, while parked in the vast grassy lot at the Sterling Renaissance Faire, I took on a co-pilot. She was a big, fat spider, an Orb Weaver to be specific, and she was the most dedicated knitter you can imagine. She knitted and re-knitted her web after all sorts of trials and tribulations. Thunder storms, gale force winds, hundreds of highway miles at top speed, even the car wash; nothing could shake Marion. She’d tuck herself up safely in my rearview mirror and emerge to inspect and repair the damages to her web during the night when she’d be safe from predators like birds or small boys. I got really attached to her. We weren’t separated until we got back to the steamy heat of the bayou. In praise of Marion and all of us who “knit on though all crises”, I’ve created this transitional tee. I hope you’ll enjoy it!
