Standard Abbreviations
Following is a list of standard abbreviations used in the Free Patterns section of this website:
- K: Knit
- P: Purl
- St(s): Stitch(es)
- K2tog: Knit 2 stitches together
- P2tog: Purl 2 stitches together
- Tog: together
- Beg: Beginning
- BOR: Beginning of round
- CO: Cast on
- Dec: Decrease
- Inc: Increase
- Pm: Place marker
- Sm: Slip marker
- Rm: Removable marker
- Rnd(s): Round(s)
- Sl: Slip
- Skp: Slip 1 stitich, knit 1 stitch, pass slipped stitch over
- Ssk: Slip 1 stitch, slip a second stitch, knit these two slipped stitches together
- St st: Stockinette stitch
- WS: Wrong side
- RS: Right side
- Wyib: With yarn in back
- Wyif: With yarn in front
- YO: Yarn over
- Tbl: Through back loop
- Rep: Repeat
- Cn: Cable needle
