IT’S MITTEN MONTH!
Have you started your gift knitting yet? Or have you been tossing FO’s into a basket or box all year? Either way, this is the perfect season for quick, small projects designed for giving. Soooo, just in time for holiday knitting, it’s Mitten Month! Through the month of November, I’ll be releasing a new mitten pattern every week, each focusing on a different knitting skill; stranded color work, cables, lace and mosaic, there’s something for every knitter. Then, during the month of December, I’ll release the matching hat patterns. Won’t that be fun? All Mitten Month patterns use worsted weight yarn; I’ve chosen a Canadian staple, Patons Classic Wool Worsted, a 100% wool yarn that is surprisingly soft and lofty with a pretty twist. This project is sponsored by my friends at YarnCanada.ca, a great source for all of those much loved work-horse yarns. Shipping is quick and free on orders of $35 or more. And if you’re shopping from the US, your dollars will go much further 😉
TODAY’S PATTERN: FRESH SNOW
There is something so elegant about classic aran knitting. Strong, raised lines criss-cross to create surface movement while deep textures, like timeless moss stitch, add warmth and richness. Today’s pattern, Fresh Snow, presents a clean and striking diamond and moss cable accented with whimsical bobbles to create a single bold motif. The mittens are worked upward from an I-cord ring that creates a smart, clean edge. Shaping is worked cleverly into the background of the cable lending a smooth, seamless look to the rounded top. This pattern is written for Small, Medium, Large and X-Large sizes with cable stitches presented in charted form.
TODAY’S LITTLE “TREAT”
Perhaps you’d like to top up your holiday basket with some quick, cozy socks? I’ve got two great worsted weight sock patterns that knit up in an absolute jiffy! Maypole and Poppa feature eye-catching and fun-to-knit stitch patterns that are perfect for gift knitting. Prefer to knit fingering weight socks? Got them too! This week, buy one sock pattern and get the second free. Head over to my Ravelry shop, pick out some sock patterns and use the coupon code HAPPYFEET at checkout 😉
And now, without further ado, here’s this week’s pattern, Fresh Snow. Thanks so much, Christine, for knitting this beautiful sample! I’ve started a Free Pattern Friday Ravelry group where you can post your comments, chat, feedback, modifications and suggestions. I hope to see you there. Happy Knitting!
